Facilitator Workshop at Munsan Library

Hello! π
The Munsan Library recently held a Facilitator Workshop.
This workshop started at 7 PM and ended at 9:30 PM, spanning 5 hours over 2 days.
Unlike traditional lectures led by an instructor, participants formed groups of 2 to 6 to engage in various exercises and discussions, enhancing the immersive experience.
Despite the late hours, it was a joyful and enlightening time filled with laughter. βΊοΈ
Let me share more details about the experience.
π’ Exterior of Munsan Library
This was my first visit to Munsan Library, and while the exterior was impressive, the interior was equally clean and beautiful.
π’ Interior of the First Floor
I arrived a bit early and explored the first floor.
The immersive digital books seemed fascinating for children, and I found them intriguing enough to flip through multiple times.
As I turned the pages, videos, images, and text appeared as if by magic, creating a fresh and captivating experience.
π’ Inside the Classroom
The hallway featured art and books on display, making it a pleasant spot to sit and read.
The classroom, with its large windows and comfortable environment, fostered focus and engagement.
Before participants arrived, the chairs were neatly arranged. When the time came, the room filled up, and the workshop began.
The theme of this workshop was "Facilitator Workshop for Creating Good Meetings," focusing on communication and mediation methods that reflect everyone's opinions.
I learned that a facilitator helps participants reach good decisions through discussion.
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a facilitator is someone who helps make a process or activity easier.
The instructor encouraged us not to take notes but to learn through practice and experience. βοΈ
Though we were meeting for the first time, the instructor's skilled facilitation allowed us to naturally introduce ourselves and engage in the workshop.
We greeted those sitting nearby and then introduced ourselves to someone diagonally across the room, forming pairs to share stories while nodding, using body language, and expressing admiration.
The first practice began with showing signs of attentiveness to the speaker.
π’ First Practice
In small groups, we took turns sharing, listening, complimenting, reacting, and discussing.
The 5 hours flew by as we immersed ourselves in the activities. βΊοΈ
Through acting and questioning, we learned the fundamentals of communication, such as maintaining eye contact, focusing, having an appropriate tempo, and using a friendly tone.
The examples shown through acting left a lasting impression.
We also took turns exhibiting various attitudes, reflecting on how they impact the speaker.
It was a profound time for self-reflection.
Respecting, focusing, and complimenting each other fostered an open and positive atmosphere, making the group more cohesive.
On the second day, we tackled more challenging exercises, such as summarizing what the previous person said without assuming their intentions.
These practices highlighted the difficulty and importance of conveying understanding and attentiveness.
While it may be hard to remember and implement everything, I felt motivated to apply these lessons in real life.
During breaks, the librarian thoughtfully prepared snacks, adding to the enjoyable atmosphere.
Even if one is not a facilitator, the skills learned are applicable in many communication situations.
Fostering a warm and generous society might be possible if we express positive messages sincerely through our words, expressions, and actions.
Participants expressed their gratitude at the end for the wonderful instructor and program.
In April, various high-level educational programs are scheduled at libraries in Paju City, so I encourage you to check the library's website for participation.
Wishing you a warm and fulfilling time, just like a beautiful spring day.
