Artist Song Hye-ryeong

When we move our feet to see a broader landscape up close, we easily encounter a scene where buildings and nature intertwine. Each building appears similar yet possesses its own unique characteristics, while mountains, trees, and clouds, though resembling one another, naturally take on various forms.

They are categorized broadly as buildings or nature, yet upon closer examination, each is incredibly diverse. Despite their different appearances and attributes, the landscape they form together feels harmonious. In fact, it is a familiar sight that we have lived alongside for a lifetime.

Breathing in deeply and viewing the familiar landscape provides us with comfort and relief. It evokes a sense of togetherness and belonging. We are already close and precious to one another, making hatred and disdain feel out of place.

With advancements in technology and online networks, global communication and exchange have become possible, leading to significant and rapid changes.

However, perhaps due to impatience, numerous errors have arisen alongside these advancements. A gap has emerged between the level of industrial development and civic consciousness, resulting in confusion.

Amidst an overwhelming wave of information, modern individuals have become like children who do not know how to swim.

We are experiencing difficulties in absorbing and making information our own. Without the time and space to process, we tend to compare new information with what we already possess.

If something is familiar or similar, we prefer it; if it is unfamiliar or different, we dislike it. In this way, even in a modern era that values individuality and diversity, hatred and discrimination persist. We have begun to focus more on our differences than on the commonalities we share.
