A Spring Outing with My Dog at Changpo Garden

While looking for pet-friendly places in Geochang, I visited Changpo Garden.
It was a great spot for a spring outing with my dog.

Snack Bar
There is a snack bar in the garden where you can grab a quick bite, like cup noodles.
I was able to have lunch with cup noodles since I hadn't eaten before visiting.
You can eat inside the snack bar, but since I had my dog with me, we sat outside in the pavilion.

Starting January 12, 2026, the admission fee for Changpo Garden will be:
3,000 won per person and 1,500 won for groups of 20 or more.
Free for seniors, children under 6, and Geochang residents.
✅️ Tropical plant garden, book café, and experience facilities (closed on Wednesdays)
✅️ Ecological park (outdoor garden) open year-round for walks.
Spring Outing
The tall willow trees and swings made it a perfect spot for a spring outing.
There is a round pond at the entrance of Changpo Garden with aquatic plants like papyrus and water lilies.
Between May and June, the aquatic plants bloom, creating a beautiful sight.
I visited on March 23, and the yellow daffodils were in full bloom.
My dog, Jadu, seemed to enjoy the spring flowers as well.
Behind the tropical plant garden, there were also pansies planted.
To promote garden culture in Geochang, residents participated in creating a 'mini garden.'
There is a cherry blossom path at Changpo Garden that is expected to bloom in the first weekend of April.
The Hwanggang Observatory offers a view of the entire garden and will be covered in red flower turf by mid-April.
There is a barefoot walking path with a foot wash area, making it great for barefoot walking.
Changpo Garden was created through ecological restoration to provide a space for residents to relax.
As the name suggests, the Changpo flowers will bloom beautifully in May, so it's recommended for those looking for places to visit in Geochang.
The pond fountain also shows rainbows, giving a feeling that something good is about to happen.
There are signs and maps throughout the park, making it easy to navigate.
You can also find a children's playground and an apple orchard.
Geochang's representative agricultural product, apples, were first cultivated in the 1930s.
Every year on November 4, Geochang celebrates Apple Day, promoting the sharing of Geochang apples with loved ones.
At the entrance of the tropical plant garden, the landscaping team was actively working on the gardens.
The tropical plant garden is free to visit, so be sure to check it out.
Dogs are not allowed in the tropical plant garden, so I went in briefly to take some photos.
The entrance is adorned with beautiful palm trees.
There is also a photo zone with a Geochang apple sculpture.
You can see tropical plants like the Mink cactus and Kumho cactus.
There is a waterfall in the tropical plant garden, providing a refreshing feeling on hot days.
There is also a kids' cafe for children under 7, requiring adult supervision.
⏰️ Operating hours: 10 AM to 6 PM (closed on Wednesdays)
⏳️ Usage time: 2-hour increments
Children: 3,000 won, Adults: 1,000 won, Additional fee: 500 won for every 10 minutes.
Every weekend at 11 AM and 2 PM, there are guided spring outings at Changpo Garden, so check the Geochang cultural tourism website for more information.
Walking the entire garden can be tiring, but you can easily stroll around by renting a bicycle (closed on Wednesdays).
🚲 1-person bike: 1,000 won, 2-person bike: 2,000 won, 4-6 person bike: 4,000 won, offering great value.
For safety, it's best to hold your dog while riding a bike as they might jump off.
This was my experience visiting Changpo Garden in Geochang with my dog for a spring outing.
