A Tranquil Journey Through Jincheon

The journey through Jincheon offers a delightful blend of lakeside paths and serene natural landscapes. Today, I explored a walking route that starts at the artificial waterfall in Saenggeo Jincheon, passes by Nong Bridge, and continues to the Mir 309 suspension bridge and the Sky Bridge.
With ever-changing views, there’s no room for boredom, and there’s a cozy café along the way to grab a snack, making this route highly recommended for relaxation.
After parking at the Nong Bridge parking lot and walking towards Chopyeongho, you'll encounter a large artificial waterfall with the words 'Saenggeo Jincheon' prominently displayed. Standing close to the waterfall, which is approximately 30 meters high and 20 meters wide, you can feel the impressive rush of water.
Walking a bit further along the path near the waterfall, you’ll find the naturally charming Nong Bridge. This stone bridge, built during the Goryeo Dynasty, is intricately crafted from red stones and has remarkably endured without the use of lime.
Chopyeongho is said to resemble a dragon ascending, and observing the landscape around the lake, it’s easy to see why this description holds true. If you enjoy quiet and open scenery, this course itself is a form of healing.
Before heading to the Mir 309 suspension bridge from Nong Bridge, there’s a quiet café that offers bread, rice cakes, and drinks, making it a perfect spot to recharge before your walk. Enjoying a cool sweet rice drink here lightened my steps for the next part of the journey.
The Mir 309 suspension bridge offers some of the coolest views along the Chopyeongho walking path. From the bridge, the lake is visible in its entirety, and the clear waters make for stunning photographs. As you walk, the bridge sways slightly, adding a thrill, while the wind blows against you, creating the sensation of walking right in the middle of the lake.
Crossing the Mir 309 suspension bridge and continuing along the deck path leads you to the Sky Bridge. The path itself is enjoyable, but the nearby legend of Nonsunam is fascinating. It is said to be the place where three deities, representing Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism, gathered to converse, and during the rainy season, waterfalls can form between the rocks.
Seeing the landscape firsthand, you can truly appreciate why ancient people considered this place so special.
This route, starting from the artificial waterfall and continuing through Nong Bridge, the café, the Mir 309 suspension bridge, and the Sky Bridge, is a perfect trekking course that combines relaxation and photography.
