Exploring Baekje Cultural Complex in Winter
On a chilly winter day, instead of snow, I exhaled white breath as I visited the Baekje Cultural Complex.
As a resident of Chungnam, I decided to visit Buyeo without hesitation after hearing about the 50% discount on the entrance fee.
The adult fee of 6,000 won was reduced to 3,000 won, making me feel like I got a great deal.
As soon as I got out of the car, I caught a glimpse of the roof of Sabigong beyond the expansive parking lot, which felt like the signal to start a time travel adventure.
Upon showing my ID at the ticket booth, the 50% discount was applied immediately. Experiencing the discount made me realize that Buyeo is indeed a must-visit place in Chungnam. If you stay at Lotte Resort, similar discounts apply, so I recommend checking the website for more information.
Sabigong, located in the center of the Baekje Cultural Complex, was much more magnificent than I expected. Cold winds passed through the wide courtyard, and even though my toes were freezing, my eyes kept following the roof of the palace. Inside, there were displays of the king's throne and costumes from that era, making it perfect for taking photos due to the low number of visitors.
Walking towards Neungsa, I encountered the 38-meter tall five-story wooden pagoda, which appeared more vibrant against the winter sky.
After exploring Sabigong and heading towards Neungsa, I naturally spotted the Jehyangru Observatory. The observatory is not very high, making it easy to climb, but it may require caution for seniors and children due to the many stairs. Once at the top, I could see not only Sabigong but also Wiraeseong at the far end of the Baekje Cultural Complex. Although the climb was challenging, I recommend it for the beautiful views, including the living culture village.
After wandering outdoors, my feet were too cold, so I took refuge in the Baekje History and Culture Museum near the entrance. Many reviews suggested visiting this place, and now I understand why. It was a necessary stop during winter, allowing me to warm up while viewing artifacts and models.
The serene atmosphere helped me appreciate the Baekje Cultural Complex. I plan to return during the night opening season to see the illuminated palace, making it a place I would definitely revisit. If you're planning a trip to Buyeo, I highly recommend adding this to your itinerary!
