Exploring Suwon's Beautiful Pine Forest: A Hidden Gem
As August approaches, many seek unique landscapes near the metropolitan area to fully experience the seasonal beauty. The sight of purple flowers blooming under the lush green pine trees is one of the most captivating scenes during this time.
Despite being close to the city, this forest area offers a deep sense of tranquility and historical significance, making it a popular half-day healing course for travelers looking for an easy getaway on weekends.
The Suwon Pine Forest is a free public space, open year-round without any admission fees or holiday closures. This makes it particularly appealing to those who enjoy budget-friendly outings.
In July 2024, it was designated as 'Gyeonggi Province Natural Heritage No. 1', further emphasizing its historical and ecological value. The ancient pines and flowering plants create a perfect setting for leisurely strolls.
Stretching approximately 5 km along the old Gyeongsu National Road, the forest path is home to over 610 majestic pine trees, including designated pines and successors. Beneath them, around 150,000 flowering plants, such as bellflowers and red spider lilies, create a stunning tapestry in August.
