Children's Favorite Free Indoor Attraction: Goeasan Insect Experience Center
Are you a parent wondering where to take your kids on weekends? This post might provide some helpful insights.
If you're looking for a fun place to spend time with your children, especially during bad weather or cold winters, I highly recommend the Goeasan Insect Experience Center. I recently attended its opening ceremony and had a much more enriching experience than I expected.
The biggest advantage of the Goeasan Insect Experience Center is that admission is completely free, and there is an abundance of exhibits that exceed expectations.
In today's world, family outings can often be burdensome due to entrance fees, but this place operates 100% free of charge. There are no parking fees or experience fees either. As long as you have a love for insects and curiosity, anyone can visit.
Inside the building, visual images are emphasized to help children naturally acquire information about insects, along with hands-on experience areas scattered throughout.
Some may initially think, 'It’s free, so it can't be that great,' but after visiting the Insect Experience Center, you'll realize how wrong that assumption is.
Upon entering the center, children's eyes widen in amazement. This is because various types of insects, some of which are not commonly seen, are on display. From native insects to rare species only found abroad, the exhibition truly encompasses the world of insects. The play area was also surprisingly popular.
Being an indoor facility, the insect experience center is not affected by the weather, which is a significant advantage. On the day I visited as a supporter, it was drizzling, but since it was an indoor attraction, I could comfortably enjoy the exhibits without changing plans.
The indoor environment was maintained at a pleasant temperature, making it a great escape from the winter chill. Since it recently opened, the facilities were clean.
The insect displays were organized in different sections, and there were clear signs and explanations, making it easy for young children to understand.
The biggest charm of this place is not just the exhibitions but the hands-on experiences available.
In the experience area, children can touch insects directly. Initially, some kids were scared, but after seeing others touch them, they naturally became comfortable and made friends with the insects.
Looking at familiar insects like stag beetles, butterflies, and grasshoppers brought back memories of childhood vacation homework.
One downside was the lack of detailed information boards for each insect. While the names were displayed, there was no information on habitats, diets, or behaviors. Adding this information could enhance the learning experience.
There is also a space that screens short videos on various topics. The 3D-like presentations were enjoyable without the need for special glasses.
The most impressive exhibit was the display showing the life cycle of insects. Children could witness the transformation from egg to larva, pupa, and adult stage through real specimens and models, experiencing the wonders of life firsthand.
The true value of the Insect Experience Center lies in its 'natural learning' approach. Without forcefully telling children to 'study,' they can naturally absorb knowledge about insects just by exploring the center. I recommend the Goeasan Insect Experience Center for a weekend family outing.
