Gallery Time: A Unique Cafe Experience in Dangjin

Gallery Time is a unique cafe in Dangjin, where every moment comes to life.
Located in Myeoncheon Reservoir, built in 1959, this flatland reservoir is a year-round fishing spot with abundant water supply, never drying up even during droughts.
The reservoir's soft, muddy bottom creates rich vegetation, making it an ideal habitat for carp, attracting fishing enthusiasts.
In front of this reservoir lies the intriguing destination known as Gallery Time.
Here, the owner has collected over 1,800 clocks from around the world over the past 30 years.
Gallery Time serves as both a museum and a cafe, showcasing thousands of clocks alongside aromatic coffee.
When I visited Gallery Time in the late afternoon, the sun was setting, casting a shimmering reflection on the reservoir.
After parking on the lawn, I entered Gallery Time, greeted by distinctive clocks right at the entrance.
As I stepped inside, the unique clocks immediately caught my eye.
A clock resembling Rococo or Baroque style exuded grandeur just by its appearance.
Gallery Time feels like a cozy home, a mountain lodge, or a vacation retreat, with various clocks displayed throughout the living room and rooms, making it easy to lose track of time while exploring.
Each clock has its manufacturing year, country, and features labeled, allowing for an engaging exploration that could easily take up an hour.
One room, filled with light from multiple windows, felt warm and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
If visiting with family, gathering around the round table for a cozy chat while savoring the space would be delightful.
The central hall boasts high ceilings, adorned with a magnificent chandelier.
While any time is good to visit, I personally recommend going just before sunset, when the fading light and the first lights of the cafe create a magical ambiance, making all the clocks feel alive.
A massive phonograph in the room plays music reminiscent of what one might hear in the Louvre Museum, enhancing the atmosphere.
Interestingly, every hour on the hour, the grandfather clocks chime, although the timing may vary slightly as the owner manually winds them.
I enjoyed listening to the different chimes at 6 and 7 o'clock, adding to the fun of the experience.
As I sipped coffee while admiring the clocks, I realized an hour had swiftly passed, captivated by the rich flavors and aromas served by the owner.
With the sparkling reflection of Myeoncheon Reservoir right in front, Gallery Time is a unique travel destination in Dangjin.
I highly recommend visiting this wonderful space that truly embodies what it means to be TIMELESS.
