Spring Blossoms at Danglim Art Museum

Every spring, when the cherry blossoms bloom, I think of a special place.
That place is the Danglim Art Museum located in Asan, where visitors can enjoy art exhibitions and create floor murals under the cherry blossoms.
There are also two geese living there, and watching them glide across the small pond brings a sense of tranquility.
On a particularly blue-skied spring day, I visited the Danglim Art Museum.
The entrance to the museum was adorned with blooming cherry blossoms, creating a beautiful tunnel.
As I traveled from home to the museum, I noticed cherry blossoms blooming in the city and the mountains, and I was delighted to find them in full bloom at the museum as well.
Cherry trees are abundant around the entrance and the pond, and a large dog plush toy placed by the pond caught my eye.
Last spring, there was a container box in that spot, but now a cute dog has taken its place.
In front of it, a pair of geese, the museum's resident duo, were playing.
Cherry blossoms were beautifully scattered over the pond, and although their blooming period is short, they were in surprisingly good condition, perhaps due to the lingering cold.
Even though the spring breeze felt a bit chilly, it allowed me to enjoy the cherry blossoms under the blue sky.
The pair of geese often swim in the pond, come ashore for a stroll, and sometimes take a nap.
When the director appears, they follow him around, always sticking together.
Watching the geese play amidst the cherry blossoms brings peace to my heart, and the beauty of the scenery makes me lose track of time.
Looking up at the cherry blossoms against the blue sky feels like nature has painted a beautiful picture.
The Danglim Art Museum offers both art exhibitions and pleasant walking paths in the surrounding area.
The spacious lawn is great for group visitors, and throughout the museum, you can find sculptures and crafts created by artist Lee Jong-mu, who founded the museum.
This museum, the first in Chungnam, was established when Lee returned to his hometown, where he continued his artistic activities until his passing.
The studio where he worked has been preserved in the exhibition hall, and now his son manages the museum.
Cherry blossom petals have fallen onto the ground, and shadows have painted another picture over them.
At the Danglim Art Museum, children can escape rigid learning and engage in creative art experiences through 'play' and 'hands-on activities.'
They can paint cute chimneys, create clay sculptures, and participate in various seasonal art programs.
Among these activities, the most popular is floor mural painting.
On a spring day filled with cherry blossoms, sitting on the ground to paint is a highly sought-after experience.
The area around the museum is a sea of cherry blossoms, creating picturesque views in every direction.
Pink azaleas have also bloomed, and it's a joy to see them as they are less common in urban areas.
While the flower shape resembles that of azaleas, the difference is that the flowers of rhododendrons bloom before the leaves, making them easy to distinguish.
The cherry blossoms around the chimneys created a beautiful scene.
The striking red flowers are from the quince tree, known for its medicinal fruit.
The flowers of the spiraea tree are also fragrant, filling the air with their sweet scent when the wind blows.
In addition to these, there are forsythias and various small wildflowers, allowing visitors to enjoy a variety of spring blooms at the museum.
Inside the exhibition hall, you can see the space used by artist Lee Jong-mu, and currently, a retrospective exhibition is ongoing.
This exhibition features a unique concept where the audience can experience the artist's works as if reading a book.
As I walked around the museum, I found it difficult to leave, captivated by the cherry blossom tunnel that lay before me.
The time spent surrounded by delicate cherry blossoms became a warm memory of spring.
The cherry blossoms at Danglim Art Museum were in full bloom, though some were starting to fall.
Fortunately, the lingering cold may allow them to last a bit longer than usual, but they are likely to drop significantly by the end of the week, so if you wish to see the cherry blossoms, visit soon!
