Jungwon University Museum: 'The Museum is Alive'
& From Color + Hue Concept to Reality
Take your children on a summer vacation outing to the Jungwon University Museum. The planned exhibition 'From Color + Hue Concept to Reality' will be held in 2026, and the permanent exhibition program 'The Museum is Alive' will also be available. Visitors can explore six exhibition halls showcasing fossils, minerals, folk artifacts from around the world, religious artifacts, and modern life items such as clocks and cameras, including a 22-meter-long dinosaur fossil.
The Jungwon University Museum, along with its botanical garden, is open to the public for everyone to enjoy freely. As you pass through the school gate towards the parking lot, you'll walk through a spacious grassy playground and a pond with a fountain. The botanical garden, which is open to the public, is adjacent to the pond, and the museum is located on the second floor of the building.
After enjoying the summer scenery of the pond, where water lilies bloom, and taking a moment to cool off in the botanical garden, head to the museum. The permanent exhibition hall consists of six exhibition rooms, and the planning exhibition room hosts 1-2 planned exhibitions each year.

The permanent exhibition includes an interactive program 'The Museum is Alive' where visitors can create their own catalog. The exhibition 'From Color + Hue Concept to Reality' showcases the meeting of Eastern ceramics and Western art.
This exhibition illuminates how colors have been conceptualized and materialized within Eastern and Western cultures. It consists of four sections, including an interactive educational experience zone where visitors can dye cotton with their own colors.
The exhibition begins with cave paintings that depict the early history of humanity, followed by the material colors of ceramics and the spiritual colors of paintings. It highlights the meanings of colors in art, visual perception, and history through famous artworks and ceramics.
Scientific and artistic discussions about color transition from ancient cave paintings to modern European theories by Isaac Newton and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The exhibition presents colors as scientific phenomena resulting from the refraction of light and explores the sensory theories of color through visual and psychological cognition.
White is introduced as the pure state of no mixed colors, symbolizing natural purity and infinite possibilities in the East, while representing religious piety and moral purity in the West. The exhibition provides detailed explanations of the different meanings and functions of colors in Eastern and Western contexts, inviting visitors to discover their personal colors through numerous masterpieces.
After viewing the planned exhibition, visitors can enjoy the permanent exhibition program 'The Museum is Alive.' Even after multiple visits, engaging with the program allows for a deeper and more enjoyable experience. By the end of June, experience zones were installed in five exhibition halls, including Coral, Islamic, African, Butterfly, and Indonesia.
Visitors will explore the treasures of the Islamic culture, which achieved remarkable accomplishments in science, medicine, and architecture through active trade and cultural fusion. The exhibition allows for a focused exploration of artifacts through an experience book.
As you journey through six exhibition halls, you will add your own colors to dinosaur fossils. The interactive experiences enhance the enjoyment of the exhibits, making the artifacts feel even more special.
