Support for Farmers Amidst Heatwaves and Drought
☀️ Even in the midst of heatwaves and drought,
Shinan County stands with farmers.
As the heatwave continues and rain remains scarce,
concerns for crops and farmers are growing.
To protect valuable crops and share the challenges faced by farmers,
Shinan County, in collaboration with the Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Special City Agricultural Technology Center,
conducted a joint field inspection on August 4
at the pear cultivation area in Aphae-eup and the vegetable cultivation area.
???? We carefully examined even the smallest changes in crops.
During this inspection,
we closely monitored the effects of heatwaves and drought on crops.
In the pear cultivation area,
we checked the fruit growth, coloring status,
and signs of water stress,
while also thoroughly inspecting irrigation facilities and soil moisture management.
Next, in the vegetable cultivation area,
we observed any growth decline due to high temperatures and drought,
and provided tailored cultivation management techniques that can be applied on-site.
We also took time to listen to farmers' voices and discuss what support is needed on the ground.

In ongoing heatwaves,
proper water management is crucial for crops, just like for people.
Shinan County provided detailed guidance on

to help combat the heat and drought.
Additionally, to ensure the health of farmers working under the heat,
we promoted heat illness prevention guidelines and encouraged
avoiding agricultural work during peak hours.

through the Agricultural Technology Center's Comprehensive Farming Situation Room
to prepare for ongoing heatwaves and drought.
We plan to strengthen on-site technical support and pest monitoring

listen to farmers' voices,
and provide necessary support quickly.
