Lee Jun-ho's Thirst for Long-Form Drama

Actor Lee Jun-ho has directly revealed his reasons for choosing the tvN weekend drama 'Typhoon Company'.
In an interview released on YouTube's 'Channel Fifteen Nights' on October 27th, he shared his sincere reason: "I wanted to do a drama with a longer narrative."
In today's era of short-form content centered around OTT platforms, the '16-episode' format has become somewhat unfamiliar.
However, Lee Jun-ho confessed that he was drawn to the charm of traditional dramas, where he could breathe with the characters over a longer period and build the narrative intricately.
He expressed his affection for the work, saying, "These days, content passes by too quickly, but I wanted to give the feeling of living with the characters within the long breath of a drama."
"I could see it as soon as I read the script"… A work he was sure of from the first impression.
Lee Jun-ho vividly recalled the moment he first received the script for 'Typhoon Company'.
He said, "I received about four episodes of the script, and the moment I read it, I could immediately see what the work was trying to express. I thought it would be so much fun."
As felt in his words, 'Typhoon Company' was not just a work offered to Lee Jun-ho, but a drama he 'wanted to challenge'.
He also said firmly, "There are no dramas I don't want to do," but confessed, "I end up reading works I want to do even while eating. Even if I'm sleepy, I keep watching because I'm curious."
As such, this work was a special opportunity that simultaneously aroused his passion and immersion as an actor.
Kim Min-ha: "Not a single character is unimportant."
Actress Kim Min-ha, who also stars in the drama, said that she cannot forget the feeling she had when she first read the script for 'Typhoon Company'.
She said, "It was so warm. Every line of dialogue really resonated with me," and added, "There are so many characters, but not a single one was unnecessary. I felt that everyone was necessary for each other."
As she expressed, 'Typhoon Company' is set against the backdrop of the difficult IMF era of 1997, but the connection and warmth between the characters form the core of the work.
Kim Min-ha expressed her affection for the work, saying, "It was so charming to tell such a warm and romantic story."
Na Young-seok PD also captivated by the 'warm drama'.
Na Young-seok PD, who conducted the interview, deeply sympathized with the stories of the two actors.
He highlighted the sentiment of 'Typhoon Company', saying, "Lee Jun-ho and Kim Min-ha both described it as a 'warm drama'."
Kang Tae-poong, played by Lee Jun-ho, becomes the president of a trading company with no employees, no money, and nothing to sell amidst the IMF crisis.
The word 'warmth' naturally suits the story because it shows the sincerity and bond between people, and the 'power to endure together' even in desperate situations.
As Lee Jun-ho and Kim Min-ha both say, this drama is not just a coming-of-age story, but contains a human story that embraces the wounds of the era.
The wind of 1997 blows as comfort now.
tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama 'Typhoon Company' (directed by Lee Na-jung and Kim Dong-hwi, written by Jang Hyun) began its first broadcast on October 11th.
Set during the 1997 IMF financial crisis, it tells the story of Kang Tae-poong, a rookie company man who suddenly becomes the president of a trading company.
Through the characters who do not give up and move forward even in crisis and despair, it conveys both 'the romance of that era' and 'the empathy of today'.
Lee Jun-ho expressed his interest in the work, saying, "I was interested in portraying that era."
As he says, 'Typhoon Company' is not just a story of the past, but a story that reminds us of the warm heart we have lost.
