Hello! This is the Ulsan City Blog Reporter Team.

Ulsan, the representative industrial city of South Korea, is known for its numerous factories and industrial facilities. However, did you know there is a special space that transforms the traces of this industry into art?

Located in Seoseng-myeon, Ulju-gun, the Fe01 Regeneration Cultural Space is a renowned junk art venue that reimagines waste iron, industrial by-products, and recyclable materials into magnificent art pieces.

Recently, we received exciting news from Fe01. On Saturday, October 17, the 4th Environmental Art Festival titled 'Writing the Sea' will be held as part of the 2026 Carbon Neutral Cultural Arts Education Project.

This year, the festival is expanding its reach beyond Ulsan to include elementary school students from across the country, which makes it even more anticipated.

Fe01 is a representative regeneration cultural space of Ulsan. Since the industrialization of the 1950s, various waste materials have been transformed into new art pieces, conveying the values of both the environment and art.

As you walk through this space, you can easily spot amazing artworks made from scrap metal, mechanical parts, and industrial materials.

In particular, the use of the assemblage technique, which combines different materials to create new meanings, is quite impressive. Observing the transformation of discarded items into new life prompts both children and adults to rethink their relationship with the environment.

My child was particularly fascinated by a car sculpture, showing a unique preference compared to other car artworks.

Another charm of Fe01 is its numerous photo zones. The entire space feels like a massive outdoor gallery, providing stunning backgrounds for photos.

Each junk art piece has its own distinct personality, making it a great place for family photos or pictures of children, capturing the unique essence of Ulsan.

As for the 4th Environmental Art Festival 'Writing the Sea', it will take place in mid-October at Fe01. Previously focused on students from Ulsan, this year it will expand to a national level, inviting talented young artists from across the country.

⭐ Event Date: Saturday, October 17, 2026

⭐ Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

⭐ Location: Two sites in Ulsan (Fe01 Experience Center, Ganjeolgot)

⭐ Activities: An 'upcycle creation contest' where discarded resources are transformed into art, and a beach cleanup activity called 'beachcombing'.

Children will have hands-on experiences with waste materials and learn the importance of environmental protection through these activities.

As carbon neutrality and environmental conservation become significant social values, this event is expected to serve as a live environmental education opportunity for children.

With the project expanding to a national level, the awards are substantial, providing an excellent opportunity for our children to gain recognition and a sense of achievement.

■ Grand Prize: Minister of Climate Energy and Environment Award (1 team)

■ Excellence Award: Education Superintendent Award (2 teams)

■ Outstanding Award: Education Director Award (4 teams)

■ Future Artist Award: Partner Company Award (10 teams)

■ Future Energy Award: Organizer Award (10 teams)

While the detailed schedule is still being finalized, we wanted to give you a heads-up about this meaningful project.

We hope to see many elementary school students and parents who care about the environment participate in this special opportunity to learn about environmental protection and engage in creative artistic activities.

Visiting the Fe01 Regeneration Cultural Space during the weekend, and participating in the Environmental Art Festival 'Writing the Sea' in October, will surely create memorable experiences.
