Discovering Sunbawi Park: A Hidden Gem in Ulsan

The season is gradually shifting into early summer.
Spring flowers bloomed brightly, but as the hot sun shines, one can feel the sweat gathering at the nape of their neck while walking.
Today, I would like to introduce Sunbawi Park, a place where you can escape the heat and enjoy a fragrant retreat.
Located in Ulsan's Uljin County, Sunbawi Park is a relaxing space situated along the upper reaches of the Taehwa River.
The towering rock seen in the photos is called Sunbawi, and it is said that a celestial being once descended to play here.
At Sunbawi Park, visitors can admire the breathtaking scenery where the Taehwa River, designated as one of Uljin's top ten scenic spots, harmonizes with the rocks.
The park has a parking lot, and you can enter the forest park directly after getting out of your car, making it quite accessible and convenient.
Interestingly, most of the park is shaded.
Various types of trees are planted here, and in May, the acacia trees bloom, filling the air with a sweet fragrance during your stroll. Personally, I love this scent, and there aren't many places where I can enjoy it as comfortably as at Sunbawi Park, so I visit whenever I can.
The park is open to the public with no entrance or parking fees.
Pets are also welcome.
On weekend afternoons, you can often find families visiting.
The forest experience center features natural playgrounds like ziplines and swinging nets that are perfect for children.
The restrooms are well-maintained, and interestingly, there is a foot-washing station installed for those who enjoy walking barefoot.
A bike path connects outside the walking trail, allowing for a ride from Sunbawi Park down to the lower reaches of the Taehwa River.
For cycling enthusiasts, it would be a great spot to tune up and ride.
Sunbawi Park has several themed spaces, including a shaded garden where you can observe various plants growing according to the season.
Plants like Heuchera, Hostas, deer urine plants, and Pampas grass are planted, and some have just begun to bloom. Each plant has a label, so you can take a closer look at the garden's flora.
While it may not be as large as the Taehwa River National Garden's bamboo grove, the lush bamboo forest provides a unique sense of tranquility.
The exact name is the Baengmire Daebong Theme Rest Area, which has seating arranged inside, allowing you to rest amidst the bamboo grove.
The gentle breeze blowing through is soothing, and the rustling sound is pleasant to hear. I recommend staying for at least five minutes.
This place, where the cool spring breeze mingles with the scent of acacia, is truly wonderful. I suggest visiting with light preparation.
Enjoy the images below that capture the beauty of Sunbawi Park.
