As cherry blossoms fall like petals of spring, azaleas take their turn to adorn the season. The vibrant colors of azaleas contrast beautifully with cherry blossoms, transforming the spring light from bright to splendid.

In Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, there are several famous azalea spots, one of which is the Hwasan Flower Park in Wanju. Let's explore the current scenery of Hwasan Flower Park.

Hwasan Flower Park is located in a quiet village in the Hwasan-myeon area of Wanju. As you approach, you'll see a signpost indicating the park. Opposite the signpost, there's a temporary parking area. Both parking and entrance to Hwasan Flower Park are free, allowing visitors to explore comfortably.

Upon entering the park, you are greeted by blooming azaleas and forsythias. A cool path leads through the azalea garden, lined with cherry and maple trees that signal the changing seasons. As you near the azalea garden, well-trimmed clusters of azaleas signal your arrival.

Following a gently sloping path, you will encounter a spacious area where you can walk clockwise around the azalea garden. The deck walkway in the middle is narrow, so it's marked for one-way traffic.

As you walk in the marked direction, you'll find a small azalea hill reminiscent of the signpost at the entrance. This small hill, made of stacked stones, is covered in vibrant azaleas, offering a unique view.

Continuing past the small azalea hill, you'll come across a stone tower area, featuring several intricately stacked stone towers. This scene evokes the famous towers of Maisan. Each tower seems to hold wishes for good fortune for visitors.

Hwasan Flower Park showcases not only flowers but various aspects of nature. The stone tower area must be viewed from the walking path for safety. After passing the towers, you will encounter a gentle slope lined with royal and double cherry trees. As the royal cherry blossoms fade, the double cherry blossoms take center stage, creating a breathtaking path during this beautiful season.

As you walk, you'll find a deck path leading to the azalea clusters on your right. Here, several double cherry trees bloom along the walkway, creating a stunning harmony with the azaleas, making it a must-visit photo spot.

After taking photos, you can continue on the uphill path. A little further, you'll find a walkway leading down towards the parking lot. This newly created path features azaleas and forsythias blooming simultaneously, creating a delightful color combination.

On the opposite side, there’s a trail leading to a rock garden. Following the naturally formed dirt path, you’ll see weathered rocks that have crumbled down the hillside. This area has been transformed into a rock garden, with flowers planted around the walking path to emphasize the unique natural formations.

Among the flowers around the rock garden, you may spot bleeding hearts, known for resembling silk pouches. They bloom around the same time as azaleas, making them a delightful addition to the park, especially since Wanju is famous for its wild bleeding hearts.

After exploring the rock garden, head towards the pavilion, a resting area. Near the pavilion, several white-flowering raspberry bushes bloom simultaneously with the azaleas, adding a lovely change to the scenery. This spot also serves well as a photo zone.

As you pass the raspberry bushes, you'll reach a fork in the path. The right path leads back towards the area where you saw the double cherry blossoms earlier. The fork provides a spacious area to rest and enjoy the azalea views.

Continuing down from the fork, you’ll find yourself on a flower-lined path, often considered the most beautiful section of the Hwasan Flower Park. This is a place where you can leisurely stroll and savor the beauty of the blossoms.

As you descend, taking photos along the way, you will eventually return to the starting point of your walk. Following the path towards the owner’s house, you’ll discover a hidden gem: a trail through a forest of azaleas. This path offers a unique experience, allowing you to walk among the azaleas.

Having completed a loop around Hwasan Flower Park, I found the flowers in great condition and the walking paths well-maintained, making for a delightful experience. If you want to feel the essence of spring while walking through beautiful azalea paths, consider visiting Hwasan Flower Park.
