The Ulsan Migratory Bird Center is located in Samho-dong, with a view of the Taehwa River's ten-mile bamboo forest.
In front of the center are mascots Sam-sam and Ho-ho, inspired by the summer white heron and winter raven.
There is a dedicated parking lot for visitors driving here. Although there is a barrier, just mention you are visiting the center, and it will be opened for you.
Upon entering the first floor, you will be warmly welcomed at the information desk.
The 3rd-floor cinema is a paid facility, so you need to purchase tickets at the information desk by providing the time and number of people.
Make sure to check out the ceiling, which features photos and sculptures of Ulsan's ravens in formation.
There are also exhibits showcasing the activities of wild birds, including rescue and treatment photos in collaboration with the Ulsan Wildlife Rescue Center.
A photo booth is available where you can choose backgrounds featuring Ulsan's landmarks for your pictures. The photos can be easily sent to your personal phone for storage and sharing.
The second floor is dedicated to an exhibition hall for migratory birds, where you can learn about the different species and their ecology.
In front of the exhibition hall, you can experience the Ulsan crane dance. With motion recognition, you can follow the dance in the video, and your accuracy will be judged by prompts like 'Eolssu', 'Geureochi', and 'Eoikoo'. Traditional costumes are available for an authentic experience.
Inside the exhibition hall, various stuffed migratory birds, including eagles, are on display.
Notably, the eagle found in Samho Island and Samho Bamboo Forest catches the eye first. This winter migratory bird, arriving from Mongolia and Central Asia, can grow up to 1 meter in body length and 2.5 meters in wingspan.
This year, there was news of many eagles visiting Ulsan, and you can see them here at the Migratory Bird Center.
Other exhibits include summer migratory birds like the golden oriole and heron, endangered species like the kestrel and the new symbol of Ulsan, the raven.
Each display provides information on names, characteristics, and ecological habits, making it perfect for family visits.
You'll also find various stories about Ulsan's migratory birds, including interactions with local residents, habitat tales, and ecological stories of summer herons and winter ravens.
Additionally, there are O/X quizzes to help reinforce what you've learned in the exhibition.
The 3rd floor features a 5D cinema and VR experience. The fees are 2,000 won for adults, 1,000 won for children, and free for preschoolers.
Check the operating hours as they differ between weekdays and weekends. Tickets can be purchased at the first-floor information desk, and there is a lunch break from 12:00 to 13:00.
In the VR experience area, you can wear VR gear to observe the flight of migratory birds against the backdrop of the Taehwa River's bamboo forest, creating an immersive experience.
The 5D cinema features an animated journey of the ravens, where your seat moves, and you feel the wind as the birds fly.
The 5th floor is an observation deck where you can use telescopes to observe the bamboo forest. Recently, artificial grass and mascot photo zones have been added for a more nature-friendly atmosphere.
In winter, to see the famous raven ballet, visit during sunset. Cushions and blankets are provided for the chilly weather, and you can enjoy wearing black traditional attire reminiscent of the ravens.
