Exploring Green Spaces in Gyeonggi Province

As the cool breeze continues, the hot early summer weather brings the possibility of sweating during the day.
How about taking a stroll in one of Gyeonggi Province's urban green spaces that offer a pause in your daily routine?
This early summer, we introduce green spaces in Gyeonggi Province where you can enjoy the scent of the forest and walk in nature.
Goyang Ilsan Lake Park
Located in the northwest of Gyeonggi Province, Goyang Ilsan Lake Park features a large lake, walking paths, grassy areas, and a blend of trees and wildflowers, making it a popular destination for families and walkers.
Singing Fountain
Starting in June, the singing fountain presents evening music fountain performances. On weekends and holidays at 8 PM, you can enjoy a refreshing water display that shoots up to 35 meters, accompanied by dazzling lights and exciting music.
Suwon Gwanggyo Lake Park
Suwon Gwanggyo Lake Park is an urban waterfront park that harmonizes a lake and greenery. With walking paths, grassy areas, scenic views, and relaxation spots, it offers a perfect blend of walking and resting. Climbing the Freiburg Observatory, a landmark at 33 meters high, provides a panoramic view of the lush summer scenery of Woncheon Lake and Shindae Lake.
Siheung Gaetgol Ecological Park
Siheung Gaetgol Ecological Park is an ecological park where tidal flats, salt marsh plants, and reeds coexist. The trails along the tidal flats and spacious ecological areas offer opportunities for both walking and experiencing nature.
The seawater experience area, which officially opened on June 20, has gained attention as an urban seaside playground. Before the summer crowds of July and August, it provides a chance to enjoy outdoor water activities in a relatively relaxed and pleasant environment.
Gimpo Han River Wild Bird Ecological Park
This park combines wetlands along the Han River with walking paths, creating a nature-friendly urban forest. It preserves the ecological resources of the Han River estuary while allowing for walking and ecological experiences. In 2024, it was recognized as an excellent case of urban forests by the Korea Forest Service.
From the Gimpo Eco Center Observatory or the riverside stand within the park, you can view the entire Han River and park without any obstructing buildings. In the late afternoon of early summer, the magnificent sunset over the Han River offers a stunning view that rivals any other.
Bucheon Songnae-daero Tree-lined Street
This tree-lined street improves urban scenery through roadside greenery and trees, providing shade and greenery in spaces where citizens routinely pass. The trees enhance the walking environment and serve as an easily accessible urban forest within the community.
Pyeongtaek National Route 1 Tree-lined Street
Established along National Route 1, the Pyeongtaek tree-lined street connects urban green corridors and adds a green landscape to areas with heavy vehicle traffic, creating a pleasant environment for both pedestrians and drivers.
Gyeonggi Province's urban forests and parks serve as environmental infrastructure responding to climate change and as the closest relaxation spaces for residents. This year, Gyeonggi Province continues to expand urban forests and park greenery by utilizing shared land, schools, roadsides, and existing parks. By 2026, the establishment of 21.5 hectares of urban forests is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 223.6 tons annually.
As we welcome early summer, we hope you find nearby urban forests, parks, and tree-lined streets to enjoy refreshing shade and comfortable relaxation.
The green initiatives in Gyeonggi Province, including enhancing garden culture and industry, expanding carbon sinks, and improving green facilities for residents while preserving natural ecosystems, will continue in the future.
