Exploring the Unique Sanjeon Comic Library in Ulsan

Ulsan has several libraries that are great for casual visits with children, but today I want to introduce a special space.
When we think of a library, we often envision a place focused on reading text-heavy books. However, the Sanjeon Comic Library is the first comic-focused library in Ulsan, designed to provide a welcoming atmosphere for everyone, from children to adults.
The library is conveniently located behind Polytech University, with parking available on the first floor or in the designated resident parking area across the street.

The Sanjeon Comic Library opened in January 2021 and offers a wide variety of genres, from children's comics to sports, fantasy, romance, history, mystery, and webtoons. With such a diverse collection, it serves as a nostalgic space for both children and parents.
Located on the second floor of the Sanjeon Maru building, the library shares the space with parking, offices, a café, and workshops, creating a multi-cultural environment.
Upon entering the second floor, visitors are greeted by large images of comic characters, which I believe children will love.
The library also offers an interlibrary loan service, allowing patrons to request books from other libraries if their desired title is not available. More details can be found via a QR code.
Although the library is not very large, it feels spacious due to the many comic books filling the shelves. The interlibrary loan service enhances its usability.
The atmosphere inside is quiet yet inviting, making it an ideal indoor destination during the cold winter months.
There are also several book search stations available, allowing visitors to easily locate desired titles. Additionally, computers are provided for signing up for quarterly reading culture lectures held at the library.
Programs for comic creation and character drawing are available, and registration can also be done through the main library's website.
While the books are for in-library use only and cannot be checked out, there are various seating options available for comfortable reading. From regular chairs to floor seating suitable for children, visitors can choose according to their preference.
The staff is present at the counter, making it easy for first-time visitors to receive guidance.
There is a dedicated space for children, with comics organized at their eye level and interactive elements like coloring and character drawing to keep them engaged.
There is also a space for displaying artwork, providing a sense of accomplishment.
Currently serialized webtoons are available in print, but there is also a digital reading space where visitors can enjoy webtoons on tablets, adding an extra layer of fun.
The collection includes popular comics, webtoons, and works adapted into dramas or movies, making it a delightful place for adults as well.
With comic character figurines placed throughout and the well-maintained facilities, this free-to-use space is truly a gem.
If you're looking for an indoor place to enjoy with your child on a cold or rainy day, I highly recommend visiting the Sanjeon Comic Library in Jung-gu.
