A Perfect Date Course in Cheonan: Sinbu Park
After a ping, it's the perfect time for a walk at Sinbu Park, a lovely date spot in Cheonan.✨
Hello! Today, I want to introduce you to a precious space where you can take a breather in the heart of Cheonan, known as 'Yauri' in Sinbudong.
This is Sinbu Park. Did you know that amidst the bustling commercial area, there is such a peaceful park?
Let me share my leisurely walk experience after visiting.
I arrived by taking an intercity bus to Cheonan Terminal and walked from there.
On my way, I found some sculpture parks.
The artwork you see above is "Manifold" by Kohei Nawa. It stands 13 meters tall and weighs about 26.5 tons, making it a giant sculpture.
This piece was created by melting aluminum and casting it, and it took about 2 years and 6 months to complete in Japan and China.
Isn't it amazing that it was made across multiple countries?
In addition to the above artwork, there are many large sculptures in front of the terminal. They are not just sculptures but are beautifully integrated with a wooden garden, allowing people to enjoy coffee and take a break.
As I admired the sculptures, I arrived at Sinbu Park. When I searched on Naver Maps, it seemed to show a location across the street, but if you are looking for the park from the terminal, just head up to the left from the exit.
This place has many bicycles, making it a great spot to explore nearby cycling paths.
There are many historically significant sculptures here. The first is a monument commemorating the 30th anniversary of the June Democratic Uprising.
It was made with a width of 1987mm and a height of 2017mm. Does the number ring a bell? Yes, it symbolizes the flow of time between the past and present.
The sharp-edged black square reflects the dark era of military dictatorship in 1987.
The second is a statue of Ahn Jung-geun. While many often depict severed fingers, this statue represents his hand and pencil, symbolizing the historical records he left behind.
As I walked a bit further, I found a nice spot to sit. The weather was perfect, making it a great place for a picnic with packed lunch.
Nearby Cheonan Terminal is very busy with wide roads, but I never knew there was such a well-maintained park within walking distance.
I walked one more block and noticed some elderly people exercising on small equipment, along with spaces for playing foot volleyball and other games.
It had been a while since I took the time to look up at the sky. Inside Sinbu Park, the sunlight was gentle and not harsh, making it comfortable for my eyes.
Lost in the quiet green surroundings, I walked for quite some time. If you live in Cheonan, I highly recommend visiting for a leisurely stroll.
