Exploring the Dream Plus Center in Jincheon

We visited the Dream Plus Center, a youth communication space in Jincheon County.
Dream Plus is a collaborative effort between Jincheon County, the Education Support Office, local schools, and community residents, creating a space for youth communication and care.
This meaningful space was established to provide a comfortable and safe playground and resting area for youth in rural areas, where after-school cultural and educational facilities may be lacking compared to urban areas.
On one side of the building, there is a sign for 'Montelier CAFE.' This dessert cafe, operated by the Jincheon Community Self-Support Center, serves as a cozy gathering place for local residents and offers safe and delicious snacks for children.
Next to it is the Saengsaeng Deoksan Small Library, designed to allow local residents and children to access books comfortably without having to travel far to a larger library.
Although small in size, it is well-stocked with children's books and general literature, providing a cozy space where children can comfortably read while taking off their shoes.
Located right next to the Dream Plus Center, it encourages youth to naturally transition into the library, fostering good reading habits.
In Jincheon County, there are two Dream Plus Centers, with the second one opening in mid-2024 in Iwol-myeon, while the first one opened in 2022 and has been well-loved by local youth.
The centers operate on weekdays only and are closed on weekends and holidays, which is useful information for visitors.
Unfortunately, my visit happened to fall on a closed day, so I couldn't fully explore the interior. However, the closed doors allowed me to appreciate the charming details of the space even more.
This lovely corner brings vibrant energy to a quiet village alley.
Looking through the windows of the Dream Plus Center, you can see drawings that showcase the creativity and humor of the youth who use the space.
One window features a 'Dream + Plus' poster that appears to be drawn by children, depicting friends smiling brightly and asking, 'Shall we play a game?' in front of a ping pong table. Inside, a blue ping pong table and net are set up, giving a glimpse of how passionately the children likely engage in matches here.
What made me smile the most was a webtoon drawing on a nearby window. Next to a cartoon character shedding tears, there was a heartfelt and cute warning written in clumsy handwriting: 'Please do not break the Dream Plus items.' It was endearing to see the kids come up with ideas to protect their cherished hideout.
In summary, the Dream Plus Center is a fantastic space where youth can gather, learn, and play, fostering a sense of community and creativity.
