Exploring Ulsan Grand Park Zoo

Hello, this is the official blog reporting team of Ulsan Metropolitan City.
We recently visited the Ulsan Grand Park Zoo, located in the southern gate area of Ulsan Grand Park, which is well-known as the lungs of the city and a popular resting place for citizens.
It serves as a vibrant natural learning environment for children and a peaceful healing space for adults.
✅ Address: 94 Daegwon-ro, Nam-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City (inside the southern gate area of Ulsan Grand Park)
✅ Operating Hours: Summer (April to October) 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM (last entry at 5:00 PM) / Winter (November to March) 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM
✅ Closed: Every Monday
✅ Admission Fees: Adults 2,000 KRW / Youth 1,000 KRW / Children 500 KRW (Free for seniors over 65 and children under 4 with valid documentation)
We were greeted by the elegant waterfowl as our first sight. However, it was a bit disappointing to see them struggling to float due to low water levels, which we hope will improve.
Every winter, we can see eagles that travel from Siberia and Mongolia in search of food.
Some eagles that were injured during feeding activities in Cheorwon, Gangwon-do, received help from a wildlife rescue center and underwent treatment at Seoul Grand Park.
Thanks to the efforts of the zookeepers at Ulsan Grand Park Zoo, these eagles, whose wings were broken and could no longer return to the wild, found a lifelong home.
The parakeet exhibition area was particularly exciting.
Although it is not a massive zoo filled with lions, tigers, and elephants like Everland or Seoul Grand Park, it offers a charming selection of smaller animals to explore.
Its unique affordability and comfort make it a rare gem where visitors can get close to the animals.
The bird area is the zoo's biggest identity and pride, boasting a wide variety of parrot species.
Visitors can meet colorful parrots like the intelligent 'Sun Conure', the attractive 'Yellow-Crested Cockatoo', and the talkative 'Galah Cockatoo'.
If you visit during the zookeepers' management time, you can get even closer to the parrots.
We also had the opportunity to enter the largest lovebird experience area in the country. There are three photo sessions daily, and we were lucky enough to meet small parrots during the first session.
Keep in mind that parrots from warm southern countries may not be available on rainy or cold days.
If you run or make loud noises in the experience area, the birds may get startled.
Please only enter the experience area if you can follow the guidelines, as feeding the birds is not allowed.
The small and adorable mini-mammal exhibition was also captivating, featuring animals like fennec foxes, meerkats, red coatis, and Mexican prairie dogs.
The layout is clean and flat, making it easy for strollers and wheelchairs to navigate.
Watching the exotic Guanaco, the charming miniature donkey, and the gentle goats lounging around was a healing experience.
The Ulsan Facilities Corporation maintains cleanliness and carefully monitors the animals' health, making it a great place for parents with young children to visit.
With relatively low fences and glass windows designed for the animals' eye level, visitors can observe them closely.
This zoo teaches a respectful attitude towards animals in nature, making it a healthy place for visitors of all ages.
While there aren't many shaded areas, benches are available for a quick rest and snack.
On hot sunny days, bringing a hat, umbrella, or sunglasses can be very helpful!
We recommend visiting Ulsan Grand Park Zoo for a peaceful time with its charming animals.
